Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Architect with a Business Development focus to join our team. This role is a unique opportunity for an experienced architect who is passionate about design, possesses strong business acumen, and has a proven track record in sales and business development within the architecture and construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development: Identify and cultivate new business opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations to expand our client base and project portfolio.

  • Sales and Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, developers, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and promote our architectural services.

  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitors to develop and execute effective sales strategies.

  • Proposal and Presentation: Prepare compelling proposals, presentations, and pitches to showcase our firm's capabilities and win new projects.

  • Networking: Attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote the firm and establish a strong presence in the architectural community.

  • Project Scoping: Collaborate with the Principals and design teams to assess project feasibility, budgeting, and resource requirements.

  • Negotiation: With the support of the Principals, negotiate contracts, fees, and terms with clients, ensuring a mutually beneficial agreement.

  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with our design and project management teams to ensure seamless communication between sales and project execution.

  • Strategic Planning: With the Principals, help Develop and execute strategic plans for business growth, considering short-term and long-term goals.

  • Financial Analysis: Assist the Principals in financial analysis and budgeting related to new projects and business development activities.

  • Marketing Support: Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional materials, case studies, and content that showcase the firm's work and expertise.

  • Legal Compliance: Stay updated on relevant legal and regulatory requirements, ensuring that proposals and contracts meet all necessary standards.

  • Continuous Learning: Stay current with architectural trends, technologies, and innovations to offer cutting-edge solutions to clients.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with projects and contracts.

  • Customer Feedback: Solicit and act upon client feedback to continuously improve services and client satisfaction.

  • Budget Management: With the Principals, manage the budget allocated for business development activities, ensuring cost-effectiveness.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from a certified institution.

  • Registered or eligible for registration with the AAA.

  • Seven years of experience in architectural design and project management.

  • Proven track record in sales and business development within the architecture and construction industry.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.

  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations in Alberta.

  • Proficiency in productivity, design and architectural software.
