Sunnyside 4
Sunnyside 4 is a four unit stacked townhouse building in Calgary's Sunnyside community. The main floor units each have a private door to the street, and bedrooms below grade. The upper units are accessed with a common stair located in the centre of the front facade, and these each have a bedroom level on the third floor.
The building is designed to resemble Sunnyside’s traditional housing form with pitched roofs and use of brick as the primary façade material. A closer look reveals its more modern tectonics, with contemporary asymmetrical massing and large windows.
Large terraces on the second floor allow the upper units to have significant outdoor space facing downtown Calgary. Private garages are located on the lane, and there is a single visitors’ stall. The project achieved a density of over 71 units per hectare.
