Lion Urrego Architect AIBC BArch MRAIC LEED GA
Project Architect

Lion joined our team as a Project Architect at Gravity in April 2024 bringing with him 18 years of rich industry experience. Lion earned his Bachelor of Architecture from The Catholic University of Colombia. Shortly after graduation, he moved to Canada, where he worked for several renowned firms in Vancouver.

Lion is a licensed Architect with the AIBC, a Member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (MRAIC), an International Associate of the American Institute of Architects (Intl. Assoc AIA), a LEED Green Associate, and an Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit for Architectural Design.

His journey in architecture began in his childhood, inspired by his father's work in residential construction and fueled by his own passion for creating and building. This early exposure to construction sites and his hands-on experiences with wood projects led him to pursue a career in architecture.

Lion's portfolio showcases a diverse range of projects, from single-family homes to multifamily high-rise residential buildings, industrial facilities, institutional structures, and large commercial buildings. Some of his notable projects include the Woodwards Redevelopment in Vancouver, BC by Henriquez Partners Architects. The Comfort Inn Hotel in Campbell River, BC by DA Architects & Planners, and two high rise residential projects: The Heights on Austin in Coquitlam, BC for Chris Dikeakos Architects and the Evelyn in West Vancouver by Ciccozzi Architecture.

His dream project would be to design a zero-carbon eco-village, harnessing green technology and site resources to create an environmentally friendly housing development. This self-sustainable community would focus on zero-waste living and eco-minded policies, enhancing the quality of life for its residents.

In his free time, Lion enjoys traveling, hiking, salsa dancing, and cooking. His interests include conceptual design, building sciences, project management, sustainable design, and BIM.

Lion's dedication to architecture and his continuous pursuit of knowledge and innovation make him a valuable asset to our team.
