Drake Landing Commercial
Drake Landing is an Anthem United subdivision in northeast Okotoks, Alberta. This site was in a Mixed Use Medium density district, which required a commercial component. The Town’s goal was to integrate a local commercial hub with the surrounding residential area. A nearby airport restricts buildings from exceeding three storeys leading us to separate the commercial and residential elements into their own buildings.
The design takes cues from both prairie commercial and agricultural building typologies. The resulting design looks right at home on the edge of town bordering prairie farmland.
Ultimately, commercial uses on this site were determined to be unfeasible, so an all-residential scheme was built.
