Beltline Midrise Schematic
In 2014, we were asked to look at the development potential of a small property in East Victoria Park in Calgary. The initial alignment proposal for the southeast leg of the Greenline had just been published, and the potential conflict between this line and the site needed to be considered.
After preparing a report analyzing the site, we were asked to take the project a step further and illustrate what might be possible on this site. We developed a schematic design where the balconies pushed and pulled to create a dynamic texture atypical of midrise housing towers. Then, in conjunction with Turbulentarch, we produced the rendering to the left.
(The ghost towers in the image represented the proposed Orchards towers, which have not been built. Beyond these are the Arriva tower and one of the Guardian towers.)
